Primary School

High School Diploma

The Primary Years Programme of SIS fosters the social and emotional growth of children in an environment that intertwines academics and enrichment activities. Our approach helps students understand relationships between disciplines and apply what they have learned in new situations. Our dedicated faculty give students the confidence to master basic skills and progress to higher levels of learning. We believe that lifelong learning begins with a child’s innate curiosity, questioning, and wondering about the world around them. Children are encouraged to construct their own learning while feeling secure to take chances and discover. When children are challenged on a daily basis, they learn how to solve problems, communicate thoughts and feelings effectively, collaborate with others and develop as whole individuals.

At Sreenidhi, the PYP offers an inquiry-based, transdisciplinary curriculum framework that builds conceptual understanding. It is a student-centered approach to education for children aged 3-11. It reflects the best of educational research, thought leadership and experience derived from IB World Schools.

The central principle of agency is underpinned on the three pillars of school life –
The Learner
Learning and teaching
The learning community

Curriculum Framework

The framework recognizes the value and importance of self-efficacy in students, which encourages them to actively participate in the learning process and take informed actions. Learners strengthen their knowledge and skills across, beyond, and between subject areas, which is guided by the six trans-disciplinary themes of global significance-

Who We Are
Where We Are in Place and Time
How We Express Ourselves
How the World Works
How We Organize Ourselves
Sharing the Planet

  • The programme offers a balance between learning about or through the subject areas, and learning beyond them.
  • The six themes create a transdisciplinary framework that allows students to “step up” beyond the confines of learning within subject areas.
  • Teachers are guided by these six transdisciplinary themes as they design units of inquiry that both transcend and articulate conventional subject boundaries.
  • These inquiries are substantial, in-depth and usually lasts for 4-5 weeks (each inquiry).
  • Each theme is addressed each year by all students. (Students aged 3 to 5 engage with four of the themes each year.)
  • In addition, all students have the opportunity to learn more than one language from the age of five.

The PYP Exhibition

In the final year of the PYP, students take part in the PYP exhibition. The exhibition is an authentic process for students to explore, document and share their understanding of an issue or opportunity of personal significance. The whole learning community shares and celebrates this culminating event in the journey students have experienced through their PYP years.
